Settlers Green & Zeb's: A North Conway Shopping Day

Tax-free outlets and one of the valley's most-loved general stores, both in the same village.

North Conway has been a shopping destination for New Englanders long before it was a ski town, and it's an easy rainy-day plan when you'd rather not be outside for a few hours.

Settlers Green Outlet Village

Settlers Green is the largest tax-free outlet shopping center in New England, with more than 75 stores spread across an open-air village, plus a second complex, Settlers Crossing, just across the street. New Hampshire's lack of sales tax makes it a genuinely good deal on top of outlet pricing, not just a marketing line.

Zeb's General Store

Zeb's is the kind of store that's become an attraction in its own right — packed floor to ceiling with Maine and New Hampshire-made candy, jams, hot sauces, syrup, and gifts, in a building that leans into old-fashioned general-store charm rather than a modern retail layout. It's worth a stop even if you're not buying anything; most people end up buying something anyway.

Beyond the two big names

The rest of North Conway's Main Street fills in around these two with independent shops, outdoor gear stores (this is White Mountain National Forest country, so the gear selection is real), and a few galleries. It rewards just walking rather than mapping out stops in advance.
