Planning the Perfect Couples' Weekend

The loft was built around two people and very few interruptions. Here's how our guests actually use a two- or three-night stay.

Most couples who book Fernalds Hill Loft aren't trying to pack in a checklist of activities — they're trying to slow down. The house is built for exactly one thing: a private retreat for two, with everything you'd otherwise have to leave the property for already built in.

Day one: arrive and do nothing

Check-in is 4:00 PM, which leaves the evening for the porch, the fire pit, and the hot tub under real mountain stars — no light pollution out here. We'd skip planning anything for the first night. Let the sauna preheat (it takes 30–40 minutes) while you unpack, then let the evening run itself: sauna, rinse off on the deck, cold plunge, hot tub, repeat.

Day two: one thing outside, one thing in

This is where a short hike to the Emerald Pool or a scenic drive down Route 113 fits well — back by mid-afternoon with the whole evening still ahead. Rainy day instead? The movie theater room has a real popcorn machine and a stocked snack bar; the putting green and driving platform are right outside if the weather's fine but you'd rather stay close.

Day three: linger, don't rush

Checkout is 11:00 AM, so a lazy final morning — coffee from the espresso machine, one more round in the hot tub — is built into the schedule rather than something you have to fight for.

What makes it work

The spa sequence (sauna, cold plunge, hot tub) is the actual centerpiece of most stays here, not an amenity on a list. Guests consistently tell us it's the part they didn't expect to use as much as they did. Pair a morning hike or an afternoon in North Conway with an evening that doesn't require leaving the property again, and you've got the shape of most successful weekends here.

Good to know before you book

The loft comfortably sleeps 2–3 adults and isn't currently set up for young children given the spa features — if you're traveling with kids, email us first and we'll help you figure out if it's a fit. No pets, no smoking inside, and the primary guest needs to be 18 or older.
